Your Solution is Up to You

INTRO

The past couple years have been harder than normal for me. I’ve had fatigue, low energy, never really felt like sleep refreshed me, migraines, negative thoughts, mood swings, and craving patterns. I also just felt like my body wasn’t running correctly, something was wrong or missing. This last year I noticed my hair thinning out near the crown on my head. Great, another fun thing to bring positivity into my life in an ever-collapsing world.

FIGHTING HAIR LOSS

This of course caused me to research all about hair loss and hair growth. I am no longer concerned because there are more than enough things to try to keep hair growing strong and reverse loss. You can either go with a natural approach, a chemical/drug approach, or a combination of both.

Natural Solutions

  • Ketoconazole Shampoo
    • I alternate with another shampoo every other day.
  • Thickening (Biotin) Conditioner
  • Derma Roller (1.5mm)
    • 10–15-minute microneedling sessions once a week over problem areas. The idea is to create micro-injuries in the scalp to cause the body to send healing signals to the area to increase growth and blood-flow to hair follicles. Apply something like minoxidil or other substances to the scalp and it will more easily be absorbed if applying after session.
  • Silicone scalp massager
    • Increases blood flow to hair follicles. It’s a theory that muscles in the scalp/head contract more under stress causing blood flow to be reduced to hair follicles, so massaging the area helps.
  • Oral supplements to decrease DHT and/or promote growth.
    • Biotin, Pumpkin Seed Oil, Saw Palmetto, etc.
  • Topical sprays to decrease DHT and/or promote growth.

Chemical Solutions

  • Minoxidil
    • Can have side effects that affect the heart.
    • Promotes hair growth but must use for the rest of your life or hair will shed and fall out fast.
  • Oral Finasteride
    • Can have side effects that affect libido.
    • Addresses DHT issue causing hair loss.
  • Topical Finasteride & Minoxidil
    • This solution is the best chemical option in my opinion as it addresses the DHT issue, promotes growth, and since it’s topical will not have huge impact if any on libido versus the oral supplement options. Combine with natural solutions such as microneedling for more results.

As you can see, I learned a lot, but the stuff above will get you started, there’s so much more out there on the subject. This whole thing started me on researching things in the herbal industry. I got on multiple rabbit holes researching herbal supplements, super foods, and vitamins, but this post is not about fighting hair loss, I just wanted to share what I found.

SUPPLEMENTAL SHOTGUN

If you could see my Amazon order history, I’ve bought like 50 different supplements in the past couple months. The reason for so many is to attempt the shotgun method approach to seeing if anything sticks and makes me feel better. I can’t really go to the doctor because they would need to draw blood and test of deficiencies of various kinds and it’s not cheap. Insurance won’t cover something requested unrelated to a diagnosis. Additionally, not all blood tests are accurate and they’re time consuming.

IT’S UP TO ME

A doctor could take negative thoughts and mood swings as depression and try to get me on a drug to overpower or mask the symptoms but that’s not a true solution, a workaround at most. I can’t really blame the doctors; they’re overloaded and are taught to prescribe drugs. They’re trying to help, but root-cause analysis, checking everything is not on the table unless there are life threatening conditions. So, it’s up to me and whatever God reveals to me.

FIGHT PARASITES

So, I began my journey. I first decided to take Ivermectin, over the years traveling to Panama and knowing the uncleanliness of restaurants, animals, and food, I wanted to address anything parasitic that could be in my body that I don’t know about. So now I take Ivermectin once a week as a baseline item. Ivermectin, people claim has anti-cancer properties and kills COVID-19. I can tell you, I don’t know how or why, but Ivermectin cured my occasional acid reflux bouts for me. Ivermectin addressed something in my digestive system and that’s amazing! It stays in the body for 4 days, so I feel once a week is OK.

You can buy the human grade version online in tablets. Try the following links to buy for yourself:

Now, understand that I am doing this to combat anything unknown affecting my health. If something is a problem regarding parasitic infections, the tips below won’t be much good. Similar to a computer, it would dumb to spend hours troubleshooting a software issue when the computer’s hardware firmware (BIOS) was the cause all along.

MICROBIOME

The next part was addressing my gut bacteria, microbiome. I realized that taking a pure, clean-diet approach is the best but unrealistic for me personally. There’s just too much contamination in our food, how it’s packaged, the anti-biotics that get pumped into the animals, going into the meat, pesticides, and God only knows what else. So, I take a moderation approach when grocery shopping. I look for things with small ingredient lists, things I can pronounce, and meat from animals without anti-biotics. To combat any contamination, I take a probiotic supplement daily, here is the one I use.

It’s important to know also that over the years, if we have been eating a lot of processed and fast foods, something called biofilms gets coated in our intestines. This biofilm is like a mucus and prevents absorption of nutrients. You will need to start taking supplements like Turmeric, Ginger Root, and Garlic as well as fermented fruit and vegetable juices to try and cleanse your body of these biofilms. Not doing this, will reduce the next optimization part.

DEFICIENCIES

Alright so I’ve addressed parasites, and my microbiome, now to tackle any deficiencies in vitamins and minerals; but which ones? There are so many, and if I have an absorption issue the daily dose might not be correct. The daily values listed are just to keep you alive. The first supplement I tested was taking L-tyrosine.

L-tyrosine. Tyrosine is a nonessential amino acid the body makes from another amino acid called phenylalanine. It is an essential component for the production of several important brain chemicals called neurotransmitters, including epinephrine, norepinephrine, and dopamine.

Now I am no doctor, but after reading the above on what L-tyrosine is used for in the body, if someone came to me with depression or not feeling alive, I would want to look into that person’s bloodwork with tests and see what their levels are. So, if you went to a doctor with depression and they didn’t even address that and just threw an SSRI at you, is that good practice?

In any case, L-Tyrosine didn’t seem to do much for me. I still had brain fog, low energy, and sleep felt unrefreshing. Alright, next I tried, Lion’s Mane which I noticed did help but it seems to wear off quickly. At this same time, I took a bunch or super food extracts, multivitamins, any food that I researched that was considered a super food, I bought the supplement.

There were a couple days here and there where I felt amazing, energetic, but the brain fog still existed, sleep was still an issue. The super food extracts were for sure helping, but something was still missing. I then wondered if I had low testosterone but since I had high libido, I doubted it. In any case, my research led to me trying Tongkat Ali and Fadogia Agrestis, also watch this. I noticed a big difference in taking those, my mental clarity was greatly improved.

BETTER NOW – A SURPRISE

Then one day this week, something amazing happened! I was researching on supplements for my hair, ones that would reduce DHT production in my body. The drug equivalent to that would be Finasteride but I don’t want to take any drug. So, I ended up buying Pumpkin Seed OilFenugreek, and Saw Palmetto. I went to work like any other day, came home, so that those three supplements came in, took them after my normal meal and fell asleep around 7:00 PM.

Then I woke up, I felt really refreshed and figured it was probably like 4 or 5 AM, it was only 10 PM!? So, I got up and I remembered saying to myself, “Damn, I feel good!”. I had so much energy, that I couldn’t fall asleep the entire night, I went to work and was up for 20 hours before falling asleep again, and I woke up at 5 AM and felt refreshed, not tired, not rundown, I felt like how you would expect to feel. It’s just after living in a diminished state for so long you forget what normal is.

It’s been about a week now, and I still feel just as good if not better. So, I believe I finally found the right supplements that addressed whatever deficiency or overproduction in my body. Like, I literally feel like a million bucks, the mental clarity, the energy! You have to understand, my body woke up on its own, usually my body doesn’t want to move all from a resting state. Before I could sleep 10 hours and still feel like I have not slept.

I am back to normal now, and I can feel emotions as the same strength as when I was younger. It is as if my body finally got the fuel it needed to run properly and went into overdrive, the thing is those three supplements were not like a big deal in my research, just something I tried out of a whim. So, I don’t know what exactly I was missing, it could be a combination of reducing DHT and Pumpkin Seed Oil containing vitamins and minerals that are more easily to be absorbed because the supplement is in an oil form. Perhaps the powdered vitamins aren’t easily absorbed.

CONCLUSION

I walked outside today and smiled, the clarity in my mind and just how good I was feeling, I was just so happy. I also now wonder, because I solved the deficiency or overproduction problem, my hunger and cravings should drastically go down because my body was sending signals to my brain to cause me to eat to solve the deficiency. My hunger has gone way down already. Additionally, all my other supplements may actually bring results now because they were being overshadowed by the deficiency or overproduction of DHT I had.

Well, folks, the truth is, if you have an issue, it’s time get researching, the doctors are a tool in your arsenal to help you, but you should not rely solely on their expertise. As the fictional character House, from the show House M.D. classically says, “everybody lies”. So, get to work on fixing your issues, the only person who knows you best, is you. Some of you may have some personal doctors you need to let go of as well. Stay tuned for Part 2 of this subject.
